My love affair with Lorna Jane

My friends like to call me Lorna Jane…jokes.  Actually, it’s true.  I have been known to sport an entire outfit by LJ – underwear and all…on a night out!

With this in mind, I thought it was necessary to explain my love affair with all things Move Nourish Believe in the hope to justify my (spending) addiction…

My love affair is certainly not a crush. It is a long-term relationship that has survived finishing school, starting work in the big corporate world whilst juggling university and further study, various upgrades to my Fitness First gym membership, gruelling “fun” runs, sweaty sessions of Bikram yoga, and now weekend day activities and nights out!  And  yes, I do spend SOME time wearing non-active wear – I haven’t managed to convince work that it is totally fine to wear Amy tights and my favourite purple jacket just yet.

On a serious note though, I am SO PASSIONATE about the Lorna Jane Move Nourish Believe philosophy and there aren’t enough words to show my gratitude for the positive impact it has had on my life.  So I wanted to share with you the things I love about Lorna Jane that you may not be aware of (you can thank me later!).

1. Gorgeous active wear is THE BEST motivation to work out

Yes it might sound cliched, but I truly believe that if you feel good when you exercise, you want to perform better.

Nothing motivates me more than laying out my bright and beautiful outfit the night before an early morning start at the gym.  The very sight of my LJ gear motivates me to get up and smash my workout!

At this point you might be thinking “Lorna Jane is so expensive – I could get multiple outfits from a cheaper store!”

As a profuse sweater (I seem to leave a trail at the gym wherever I go – yuck!), I have to say that LJ makes me look and feel a lot more comfortable towards the end of my toughest sessions.  I can even wear my LJ during Bikram yoga with the confidence that it won’t become transparent once the room heats up and i’m in awkward pose (I have seen this happen – cringe!).

Given I break a sweat at pretty much every workout, I (reluctantly) have to wash my gear after each wear.  Notwithstanding this, my LJ looks like it did the day I bought it and it dries so quickly on my tiny washing line in the spare bedroom of our apartment.  This is where quality over quantity prevails – many of my LJ outfits have lasted for years.  I only donate to charity or giveaway pieces to friends because I have too many new outfits in my collection!

2. Lorna Jane is MORE than just active wear

Move Nourish Believe is a complete lifestyle philosophy.  It is a simple as:

~ MOVING your body everyday in some way, whether it be a weights session at the gym, stretching, yoga, meditation or a walk on the beach.

~ NOURISHING your body with wholesome foods that give you the nutrients to be healthy and strong.

~ BELIEVING that you can achieve any goals in life by maintaining a positive mindset.

The Move Nourish Believe website is my absolute favourite blog for daily motivation on exercise, health, nutrition and life.  Articles are posted from the Lorna Jane team, as well as guest posts and features from inspirational women (and men) who share their own experiences and expertise.  In fact, I have stumbled across many of my favourite bloggers through the website, including the beautiful Hayley Richardson, Rachel McDonald, Tara Bliss, Rachel Brathen, Libby Weaver and Nat Kringoudis.  See my Inspiration page for links to their gorgeous blogs.

You will also see some great recipes posted on the website which are easy to make and absolutely delicious.  And if you want more, Lorna Jane has released three books to date, including Nourish, a book full of clean-eating recipes!

There is something new on the blog every day to keep you inspired, and I can’t sing its praises any louder.  Seriously, check it out now!!

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the Lornal Jane App!  It’s free to download and acts like your own PT by tracking your distance, time and calories for many activities.  Lorna Jane herself even motivates you to keep going on your run! The App also includes inspirational quotes and delicious recipes for you to try at home.  It is available for both the iPhone and Android, so definitely give it a go.

3. You will have a Sisterhood of Support to help you along your journey

The pink and black Lorna Jane bracelets are more than an accessory – they are a symbol of the Sisterhood of Support (SoS).  They also promote Active Nation Day, a Lorna Jane initiative in September each year to encourage ladies to spend a day being active with their sisterhood.

One of the greatest benefits of being part of the LJ SoS is the amazing group of ladies that support each other’s health and fitness goals. From following @lornajaneactive and using the #lornajaneactive and #movenourishbelieve hashtags on Instagram, I have joined some beautiful ladies on their personal journey to a happier and healthier life.

My favourite accounts to follow are @the_healthy_me, @a_side_of_kale, @ourfitnessjourney_xo, @danibonnor, @amandabisk, and of course @ljclarkson herself!  I am inspired by these gorgeous ladies everyday and they also support me on my own journey!  I am in awe of the love and positivity that exists in this amazing sisterhood, which has been created purely from their common interest in the Lorna Jane Move Nourish Believe philosophy.

So there you have it – my passion for the Lorna Jane brand is not just based on the way the clothes look – it is a way of life.  I hope this post inspires you to take advantage of the amazing (free) benefits that come from following the Lorna Jane blog, App and Instagram family.
