My favourite smoothies

26 October 2014 By: Amandacomment

Ever since my friends gave me a Kambrook Blitz2Go smoothie maker, it has become my go-to quick and nutritious lunch or snack.  In this post I share my favourite recipes – they are super easy to make the night before work!

Blueberries and greens are a must in my smoothies!

Blueberries and greens are a must in my smoothies

Base option #1 – Coconut Water

I like to use Raw C Coconut Water as it has no added sugar and is concentrate free.

Ingredients:

Frozen blueberries (cheaper than using fresh ones and they blend great!)

One small banana (or half a large banana)

Half an avocado

Chia seeds

Optional:  Small handful of shredded baby spinach or kale, mint leaves

Coconut water

Blend until smooth

Base option #2 – Almond Milk

Look for almond milks which contain minimal ingredients – i.e. almonds, water and a tiny bit of salt.

Almond milk produces a “creamier” smoothie than coconut water, but is a great alternative for those who love milk in their smoothies.  There are a variety of almond milks available from supermarkets today, however fresh is best because the cartoned varieties tend to contain oils to stop them from separating.  You can make your own almond milk, however my favourite pre-made version is Inside Out, which you can purchase from health food stores for approximately $8.  You can taste the difference and you have to shake the bottle every time you use it.

Ingredients:

Frozen blueberries or papaya

Banana

Teaspoon of cacao powder

Almond milk

Optional:  Maca powder, greens

Blend until smooth

In case you wanted to add MORE superfoods into your smoothie, my secret ingredient is The Beauty Chef’s Glow Powder.  One small teaspoon in your smoothie will give you twenty three skin loving superfoods.  The powder is berry flavoured and contains fermented and probiotic nutrients which the skin needs to be healthy and radiant.  One tub lasts a long time so it is definitely worth the investment and will leave your skin glowing!

I hope these smoothie recipes inspire you to create your own!  I definitely recommend a blender that allows you to prepare and drink from the same bottle – they are an absolute time saver and there is minimal cleaning involved.

I would love to hear from you if you have any smoothie ideas to share!
