I attended another Goddess Group session with the gorgeous Melissa Ambrosini recently. The topic of the session – ‘don’t shoot the messenger’, was not revealed until we arrived, however it could not have been more timely. As the winter weather sets in and people are falling ill at home and work, Melissa urged us to listen to our bodies and not ignore any niggles and sickness. In this post, learn why you too should listen to your body and take action to address any health concerns before the universe gives you a bigger, more serious kick up the butt.
1. Don’t shoot the messenger!
Are you feeling any pain, niggles or sickness right now? It is your job to tune in and investigate what these signs are telling you about your body. For example, a stiff neck may be the symptom of deeper, emotional issues from your past. An upset tummy could be a sign of your microbiome (bacteria in the gut) being out of whack due to poor diet and use of the pill and antibiotics. Skin rashes and acne may be caused by stress on your body.
The lesson here is to be very kind to your body and listen to it before the universe is forced to send you a bigger sign in the form of chronic illness and injuries that take far longer to heal.
2. Take inspired action
Having identified some of the warning signs, now it is time to take action inspired by love and not fear.
Ask yourself, what can I do to support my body? Examples include:
~ Seeking assistance from a naturopath or kinesiologist to boost your body’s strength and bring it back to equilibrium.
~ Getting more sleep – this is even more important than food and exercise when it comes to supporting your hormones.
~ Meditating each morning for 10 minutes to help you focus on being present and mindful during the day. I am a big fan of Melissa’s meditation series one and series two because they are short and focus on different issues – e.g. wellness, protection, self-love, relationships, manifesting dreams, sleep and wealth. I listen to one on the train in the morning on my way to work and I feel amazing!
~ Reading literature to support your mental health and inspire action – for example, Louise Hay’s ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ and Marianne Williamson’s ‘A Return to Love’.
The key to taking inspired action is to put yourself and your health first by practising self-love. Prioritise time each and every day to heal and strengthen your body and mind. Only when your ‘self-love’ cup is overflowing can you truly afford to help others.
3. Surrender
When health issues take their toll on your body, it becomes so important to adopt a mindset of acceptance. Your body is teaching you a lesson which will ultimately strengthen you in the longer term.
In these situations, you need to drop all expectations and avoid being attached to an outcome. Of course, you will have a preference to feel better as soon as possible, but be ok with whatever happens. Adopting this mindset will slowly release the weight off your shoulders and allow your body to focus on achieving wellness in it’s own time.
Having trouble accepting a situation? Trick your mind into surrendering to the situation by staring at yourself in the mirror and repeating the phrase – I love you and I accept you anyway. You may not be convinced initially, but over time you will start believing it.
Do you have any niggles or health issues you have been ignoring? I have battled issues with my digestion for many years and haven’t really done much about it. So this weekend I saw a naturopath (I managed to secure an appointment at the last minute because of a cancellation – which I took as a sign from the universe!) and she has already put some simple steps in place to start addressing the issue. I am already feeling lighter now that I have taken the first step to help my body heal.
I really hope this post inspires you to take action and listen to your body! I would love to hear your stories and ways you have taken inspired action to help you heal.
