Everyone knows that I have a passion for all things Lorna Jane, including the wonderful girls at Lorna Jane’s flagship store in Sydney. The store happens to be very close to my work (convenient huh?!), so I am a regular visitor.
Since the store opened last year I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the amazing ladies from Team Lorna Jane, and they have been so supportive of my Gorgeous Presence journey. So when I asked the girls if they were willing to answer a few questions about Lorna Jane’s Move Nourish Believe philosophy so that I could share the answers with my readers, they jumped at the opportunity!
I am absolutely passionate about the Move Nourish Believe philosophy – Lorna Jane has created so much more than a clothing brand, it is a way of life. For me personally, I have learnt so much from the articles and amazing role models feautured on the blog, including Rachel MacDonald, Hayley Richardson, Amanda Bisk, Carla Oates, Gala Darling and Dr Libby. The list is endless.
For those new to the Move Nourish Believe concept, I really encourage you to pop onto the blog. If you are living in Sydney, you simply have to visit the George Street store to meet the gorgeous team, including Zoe, Jenniffer, Marie, Janet and Jenilee.
In this post I am delighted to share their personal tips to achieve the Move Nourish Believe lifestyle for yourself. All photos in the article have been kindly supplied by the Lorna Jane George Street team.
1. MOVE ~ What is your advice to girls and guys that are just starting out on their fitness journey? What forms of exercise have you found to be the most effective (and fun!) for you?
Janet: If you’re new to exercise, my advice is to be adventurous – try out all sorts of activities i.e. gym, dance class, martial arts – until you find one that you love and can’t get enough of. For me, that was Pole Fitness, it’s amazing and i’m obsessed!
Jenniffer: Don’t be afraid to start, take small steps (you can’t run a marathon if you haven’t run before). Find what works for you and try something new. You may be surprised! I never thought I would enjoy running but I go a little stir crazy if I haven’t done a run 2 – 3 times per week. I also ordered the Tracy Anderson Method online and it challenges my body in a way no other workout has.
Jenilee: Sometimes it’s difficult to push yourself – you need the support of others to encourage you to keep going. I recommend joining a group fitness sort of activity, such as bootcamp. I do bootcamp three times a week and it’s a great atmosphere where everyone pushes each other and the competitiveness also helps! It also incorporates a range of exercices – from strength to cardio and focussing on particular muscle groups, so you never get bored! Also a great way to interact with people in the same boat as you – so a great way to meet new friends 🙂
Marie: I believe that at the beginning of a change in somebody’s life, it is important to take baby steps. “Knowledge is power” is my belief behind beginning your fitness journey – learn as much as you can from your peers, friends, family members, gym trainers, etc., basically everybody you can get in contact with. Their tips may not be handy now, but they certainly will be at some point in your journey.
2. NOURISH ~ What is your favourite healthy meal to prepare when you are busy (work, family, study, etc.) and don’t have much time to cook?
Janet: Rice noodles with steamed bok choy, eggs and dumplings.
Jenniffer: Konjac noodles, spinach omelette. (Konjac noodles come prepared and are between 80-100 calories per 100 grams!)
Jenilee: It’s probably best to eat 8 small meals throughout the day – this is to prevent you from snacking on that Snickers or having a little more of that garlic bread later on in the day! Examples of snacks I love are nuts, fruit and yoghurt.
Marie: Paleo pancakes! So easy to make! Another really great thing to do is make an enormous salad at the beginning of your week and pack it with delicious veggies. Every day take a container full of the salad for your day. Team it with a tin of tuna or some chicken and you’re done!
3. BELIEVE ~ Self belief and mindfulness are so important to achieving your goals and staying happy and healthy. Do you have a daily practice which helps you to remain focussed on your goals and / or nourishes your soul?
Janet: Every night when I am in bed, I go through the day in my head: what I did, what I would’ve done different and what I want to do tomorrow. I do the same in the morning to remind me what my day needs to consist of.
Jenniffer: I learnt a long time ago that it’s all about staying positive, and finding the positive even in a bad day. Remember that today hasn’t happened yet and tomorrow is not promised, so make the most of every moment. I always tell those close to me “I love you” every day, every time I see them or even just send them a quick message to let them know.
Jenilee: I think about what happens if I get this one thing off my list, how much closer I’d be to getting where I want to be – this relates to work, health and family matters. I have a diary to keep things in check. Also try to have 5 minutes of quiet time! Time to yourself is not selfish – it gives you time to review things and keep yourself calm throughout the day.
Marie: I go to the gym 5 – 6 times a week without(!!) a gym partner. It’s my time when I’m there. People always ask why I don’t like training with anybody else and it’s purely because I need to keep the gym my happy place!
So there you have it! Some wonderful Move Nourish Believe tips from the gorgeous Lorna Jane George Street team to help you on your own journey.

Beautiful post Amanda! The girls have some amazing tips here. I love Jenniifer’s tips about finding a positive in each day – I’ve began to do this recently with my gratitude practice and even on a bad day there is always something (actually, after a while you manage to dig up a few!) positive to be grateful for!
Hi Hayley, I totally agree! We have so much to be grateful for, but only when we stop to think and write it down does it really sink in! I’m glad you enjoyed the post 🙂 Amanda xxx
