Mastering Your Mean Girl with Melissa Ambrosini

Today marks the launch of my special friend Melissa Ambrosini’s first book, Mastering Your Mean Girl! For those of you who have been following Gorgeous Presence for a while, you would know how much I love attending Melissa’s weekly Goddess Groups. She is one inspiring beauty and I love the message of self-love that she is sharing with women around the world. She is truly one of the most generous and kind-hearted ladies I have come across.

To celebrate the launch of Mastering Your Mean Girl, I asked Melissa to give us a little peek inside her oh so gorgeous daily way of life.

What is your non-negotiable morning ritual/practice?

Meditations and movement. I always start my day with some form of movement, sometimes it’s 10 minutes of yoga on my bedroom floor in my underwear, other times it’s a barre class. After that I always drop and meditate for 20 minutes. There are a few other things I do but not every day, these two things are my non-negotiables.

What is the first thing you do when your Mean Girl starts crying out for attention?

I do my 3 step Mastering Your Mean Girl process which goes like this…

  1. Practice awareness. Pay attention to the words your Mean Girl is whispering in your ear about why you shouldn’t follow your dreams. It could be anything — You’ll never get that raise. You don’t have enough experience to start your own business. You could never make money as a coach/ consultant/ blogger. Become aware of what she’s whispering — awareness is the first essential step.
  2. Gently close the door on her. Don’t try to argue with her, or start an inner war — that’ll just cause you a whole lot of angst. Simply make the decision to turn the volume down on what she’s saying and gently close the door on her.
  3. Choose to live from a place of love instead. When it comes to your career or business, tune back into the passion that pumps your pulse. Use that spark to light your way, instead of allowing fear to rule your decisions.

What is your favourite way to exercise?

I love slow mindful movement like yoga, walking, barre, pilates and hiking. Gone are the days where I would flog my body at the gym in the hopes to look like a Victoria Secrets model. Now I move my body because I LOVE the way it makes me feel, not because I want to punish myself.

What is your favourite breakfast?

I am currently obsessed with my fatty latte from my book The Glow Kitchen. The fatty latte is full of good quality saturated fats which are great for brain cognition and keeps you fuller for longer which is why I don’t need anything else at breakfast.

What inspired you to create Mastering Your Mean Girl?

I had a burning desire to share my thoughts to inspire women and home them in one beautiful place which was easy for women to access at any time 😉
