What are the two most common things I hear from people about their finances and mindset towards money?
“I don’t have enough money to do/buy/go (insert just about anything here).”
“I don’t understand money when it comes to my personal finances and business.”
Today I want to focus on the first statement, because I truly believe that mindset is the key to success when it comes to mastering your finances. Without it, you can have all the money in the world and it will never be enough.
Why do you think that you don’t have enough?
The first question I want to ask you is – why are you so concerned that you don’t have enough money?
The most common answer to this question tends to be something along the lines of “I wish I could quit my job or buy a new car or go on a holiday, but I don’t have the money to do these things, so I guess I just have to keep working until I have more money.”
Have you ever convinced yourself that you need to keep working for this reason? This thought has certainly crossed my mind many times in the past.
How do you truly know that you need more?
The second question I want to ask you, and probably the most important one of all is – how do you absolutely know for sure that you need more money?
Ummm…because I think so!
But…Do you really know what the future would look like with more money? Or is this just something your Ego/Mean Girl is telling you that this is true? What would happen if you turned around that question to this statement – “I don’t need more money, I have enough right here and now.”
This is where the magic happens!
You already have enough!
If you start living in the present moment and realise that your stresses around money purely exist in your mind and not reality, what is really stopping you from starting that new business, buying that car, going on that holiday, or doing that online course you have been dreaming of doing for months? Nothing but your mind! I challenge you to tell me otherwise!
I discovered that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, but that when I didn’t believe them, I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that. I found that suffering is optional. I found a joy within me that has never disappeared, not for a single moment. That joy is in everyone, always.

If you think I am sounding a little crazy right now, I can assure you that this change in mindset truly does work. I have been applying this mindset when I feel stressed about money and I can honestly say that miracles have come my way! For example, when I had already made the decision to sign up to an online course which I was fretting about, I received extra teaching work which covered the cost. My hubby and I also made a decision recently to purchase his dream car instead of waiting for “someday” when we had more money. Now he is teaching golf lessons which cover the car lease payments and more.
It is not about ignoring the reality of life and going on a spending spree, rather seeing situations for what they actually are, being positive that you can achieve your goals in the present, and not making decisions from a place of scarcity and stress. My gorgeous friend Melissa Ambrosini sums it up perfectly –
I believe we are abundant beings and can create whatever our heart desires. I believe that money will always show up for that which is true for you. I believe we are only limited in our minds.
– Melissa Ambrosini
And when you shift your relationship with money from scarcity and fear to abundance and love, it will have a ripple effect across other areas of your life, including your relationships, health, body and mind. That is why I am so passionate about helping you see money for what it is – simply energy that is plentiful!
I want to be honest – this change in mindset doesn’t come straight away. It requires you to practice it every single day. So my challenge for you is to think of one decision you have been avoiding because you don’t think you have enough money and start asking yourself the questions to get to the bottom of why you are holding yourself back.
What is wealth? There are people that have lots of money, but they aren’t wealthy, because wealth is really a state of appreciation. If you feel scarcity around money now, you’re always going to feel scarcity, no matter how successful you become. You don’t get beyond scarcity; you start beyond it. Abundance is a mindset, not a dollar amount. Cultivate gratitude for the things you have now and everything that is added will feel like a bonus. Remember that 75% of the world is living on two dollars a day. Your worst nightmare is their greatest possible dream.
